This directory contains two types of map products for each lunar pole: maps of the Permanently Shadowed Regions, and maps of Average Illumination. Maps are in polar stereographic projection, with a resolution at the pole of either 240 m/pix or 60 m/pix. Maps extend to +/- 770 km or +/- 151 km in either direction, corresponding to complete coverage from 65 or 85 degrees to the poles, and partial coverage down to ~55.2 or ~82.9 degrees. List of files provided ---------------------- Permanently Shadowed Regions ---------------------------- LPSR_65N_240M_201608 , LPSR_65S_240M_201608 : Maps of the permanently shadowed polar region down to 65 deg, N and S latitude at 240m/pixel resolution LPSR_75N_120M_201608 , LPSR_75S_120M_201608 : Maps of the permanently shadowed polar region down to 75 deg, N and S latitude at 120m/pixel resolution. LPSR_85N_060M_201608 , LPSR_85S_060M_201608 : Maps of the permanently shadowed polar region down to 85 deg, N and S latitude at 60m/pixel resolution. Average Visibility ------------------ AVGVISIB_65N_240M_201608 , AVGVISIB_65S_240M_201608 : Maps of the average illumination of the polar regions down to 65 deg, N and S latitude at 240m/pixel resolution. AVGVISIB_75N_120M_201608 , AVGVISIB_75S_120M_201608 : Maps of the average illumination of the polar regions down to 75 degrees N and S latitudes at 120m/pixel resolution. AVGVISIB_85N_060M_201608 , AVGVISIB_85S_060M_201608 : Maps of the average illumination of the polar regions down to 85 degrees N and S latitudes at 60m/pixel resolution. All map products are provided in IMG format, our primary data product. The JP2 files are provided for user convenience as they are more readily imported into commonly used GIS software. Some maps show linear artifacts that arise from the topographic DEMS from which these illumination products were derived. As with all EXTRAs products, these files are not supported by the PDS or the LOLA Science Team.
