Neumann Goddard Space Flight Center ============================================================================== INTRODUCTION ============================================================================== This archive contains a collection of LRO Radio Science (RS) data and documentation generated by various elements of the DSN, the LRO Project, the Radio Science Team (RST), and others. Radio Science data consist of tracking data and secondary files such as weather, laser ranging, and small forces data that are used to analyze the primary data. The RST is a subunit of the Lunar Orbiting Laser Altimeter (LOLA) team. The LRO Radio Science Raw Data Archive is stored on one volume and is designated LRORS_0001. ============================================================================== VOLUME SET INFORMATION ============================================================================== The archive volume has the structure illustrated in the diagram below. The primary LRO Radio Science raw data product is the STDN-724 Tracking Data File (TRK). The TRK files are binary files, for which the format is described in the associated LBL files. The support files are the station weather (WEA) files, the Small Forces Files (SFF), and the Laser Ranging files (RANGE). WEA files contain the weather data associated with the S- and X-band tracking. They are ASCII files, and contain the time, temperature, pressure, humidity and wind speed at each tracking site. The Small Forces File (SFF) is the updated and thruster calibration parameter report from the GSFC Flight Dynamics Facility (LRO product FDF25) in support of the LRO mission. Laser Ranging (RANGE) data files contain the one-way time-of-flight from an Earth based laser ranging station to LRO. The DOCUMENT directory contains descriptions of the archive and file formats. The instrument used to acquire the data is described in the file INST.CAT in the CATALOG directory. The file REF.CAT in the CATALOG directory contains a list of publications referred to in this archive. Of these, TOOLEYETAL2010, CHINETAL2007, SMITHETAL2009 and ZUBERETAL2009 were crucial to the preparation of this archive. We recommend that users of this data archive review them prior to working with the data. The remaining directories at the root level contain documentation, data files and detached PDS labels. ============================================================================== FILE FORMAT ============================================================================== All data files on the volume are accompanied by detached PDS labels, which describe their contents. PDS TEXT objects have attached labels. Detached labels have the same file name as the data file except that the label name has the suffix "LBL". Documents describing detailed file structures for the archived data file types, Tracking Data File, Weather Data File, Small Forces File, and Laser Ranging File are referenced in the Software Interface Specifications and those documents can be found in the DOCUMENT directory. Text files, including data files of ASCII text and all labels (*.LBL files), are delimited with carriage-return (ASCII 13) line-feed (ASCII 10) pairs at the end of each line.
